Finding the right words
My job is to help you express yourself clearly and eloquently. Throughout my career, I’ve been complimented on my writing skills, whether I’ve written about business, technology, healthcare, science, or martial arts. My employers and clients have told me that I “get it” – I understand what they’re trying to communicate, and put it into words that they couldn’t find themselves.
Great copywriting contributes significantly to your success by helping you to be clearly understood, to sound professional, to deliver your messages effectively and convincingly, and thereby to attract new business.
On behalf of my clients and past employers, I’ve written website copy, corporate profiles, mission statements, brochures, product sheets, news releases, case studies, newsletters, blog posts, ad copy, company slogans, video scripts, software documentation, user manuals, direct mail copy, and even a promotional children’s book.
Regardless of the topic, my goal is always to make the writing clear, convincing and considerate. Though consideration is not usually listed as an ingredient of successful business writing, in my view, the copywriter’s job is:
- to present the subject or topic in the clearest and best light;
- to not assume that the reader has any prior knowledge of the topic; and
- to consider not only what information the writing imparts, but also how it makes the reader feel.
Great writing should both demonstrate and foster clear thinking. It should also get out of the way: the best copywriting calls attention to the subject or message, not to itself.
If you have trouble finding the right words for whatever it is that you wish to describe or express, I can help.
